Summary: Jorge Mahomar is our affiliate in Honduras and serves as our main contact for new project developments and initiatives. Jorge is founder and president of Centro de Desarrollo Juvenil y Familia in Tegucigalpa, a rehabilitation center for children and young adults and advisor of FANIVA, an organization that assists underprivileged families and children. Jorge has worked with the government in relief and social work causes since 1980 and has founded multiple orphanages and support centers throughout the city.

Texas A&M University

Texas A&M students, Jorge Mahomar, and Lidia (support center teacher)BAF will continue to create positive network effects in several areas of the Texas A&M University system, which includes AMC (Aggie Mens Club), AFIL (Academy for Future International Leaders), and The Borlaug Institute. BAF projects will increase interaction between the domestic and international community within Texas A&M and give various student groups the opportunity to become a tangible part of this relationship. A critical component of the relationship was established when 14 students from Texas A&M, from the AMC student organization, were sent to Tegucigalpa to work with one of our project affiliates in Honduras in 2005. Consecutive visits to Honduras have been made on a yearly basis since then.

The Borlaug Institute

BAF is in partnership with The Borlaug Institute at Texas A&M University, whose aim is to cultivate knowledge about world affairs and international business. One of the Borlaug Institute's programs, the Junior Master Gardener Program, a curriculum that educates children with a focus on agriculture, has been scheduled for implementation at educational facilities in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Chevron Corporation

Chevron funded the construction of the Texaco Family Support Center in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. With local involvement and the support of its Latin American counterpart, the Chevron Corporation has continually supported and contributed to the educational programs at the Support Center, which is located in one of the largest marginalized communities in Tegucigalpa. Chevron's most recent contribution has been a donation of six fully equipped computers, with educational programs installed, for the Texaco Family Support Center.
