The Global Citizen Project comes to Tegucigalpa
Building a Future fans suggested that Charyn Pfeuffer visit Building a Future as part of the Global Citizen Project, and then you all turned out to vote for BAF.  Thanks to you, Charyn is now in Tegucigalpa for the first segment of her year-long travels.  Follow along and check out her thoughts at her Global Citizen Project blog.

March 2010 Trip to Honduras

BAF has a annual trip to Honduras along with Texas A&M University students from AMC (Aggie Mens Club). This year the trip was held from March 14-21 and we are happy to report it was successful! We built a home for a family of 4 and we had the opportunity to interact with children from orphanages and support centers managed by Jorge Mahomar. Thank you to all who donated and supported Building a Future in this journey and for contributing to the Soccer for Bare Feet campaign. We gave out over 75 soccer balls and over 100 T-shirts to deserving children.

This is a video created by AMC's Andrew Paton documenting our trip. Enjoy!

Success! Thanks for the Support!
Thanks to the support of volunteers, friends, and the larger Building a Future family, we garnered the most votes in a Facebook poll to bring travel journalist Charyn Pfeuffer to Building a Future during her 12-month, 12-country trip during which she will volunteer at 12 different non-profits.  BAF is honored to be Charyn's partner in Honduras thanks to the outpouring of support from everyone.

We would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who voted and spread the word! It is encouraging to see just how many people like you were willing to take action to support BAF's mission to "transform communities by promoting the educational and social development of underprivileged children in Honduras."

Did you find out about Building a Future through this initiative and are you interested in learning more?  Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you would like to be involved.

Stay tuned for more news about some projects and initiatives that are currently in development, and of course make sure to check back for information about when Charyn will be coming to Tegucigalpa.

Update: 1,000 Children Are In Need

Our 1000 Children Are In Need campaign has been a success! Building a Future is happy to announce it has reached its $12,000 fundraising goal to keep 8 children centers in Tegucigalpa, Honduras from shutting its doors to those who are most vulnerable. On October 30, 2009 Melissa de la Vega, BAF representative in Honduras, held a press conference to present the check to directors from the Centro de Desarrollo Juvenil y Familia (Center for Youth and Family Development), which handle the administration for the children centers.
